Kerr's first work began while he was still in High School, when he performed in his high school play, The King and I. Kerr moved to New York where he was able to get a spot as an extra in the Bruce Willis film, Twelve Monkies. Kerr did also a Gateway computer commercials.

The Forsaken
Story: Ambitious, dutiful Sean (Kerr Smith) is paid to drive a Mercedes sports car from L.A. to Miami. In this road movie, he encounters quirky characters in the deserts, canyons and plains of the Southwest. The pace picks up when he meets cynical slacker Nick (Brendan Fehr) and they rescue traumatized beauty Megan (Izabella Miko). The reluctant alliance of these mismatched people

Story: Alex (Devon Sawa) and a group of high school students take a flight to Paris for a French class trip. His friends start to believe he had something to do with it also and slowly fade out of his life. Dawson's Creek
